First Online GLOBALG.A.P. Spanish-Language Training Debuts

SCS Global Services (SCS), a leading food safety training center and certifier, is now offering the first online training course in Spanish for the GLOBALG.A.P. food safety standard, “IFA for Fruits and Vegetables.” GLOBALG.A.P. is an internationally recognized set of farm standards dedicated to good agricultural practices and recognized by the Global Food Safe Initiative (GFSI).

“GLOBALG.A.P. training is the most efficient way for growers to start the process of reaching certification, “said Diane Dulmage, SCS’ Training Services Manager. “SCS has successfully delivered the English-language online course since 2014, and now we’re pleased to be able to offer accessible learning for Spanish-speaking producers around the world.” Both English and Spanish courses are offered at a very cost-effective price.

The digital learning modules cover the fundamental documents, processes and procedures upon which the GLOBALG.A.P. Standards’ inspections and audits are based. The course is equivalent to a two-day, in-person training course, and typically takes 10‐16 hours to complete. Participants view the video and listen on their computers or other digital devices, as an experienced, engaging instructor presents the material. Learners have up to one year to complete the course in order to download a Certificate at Completion.

The training includes a detailed review of fourteen essential topics, including site history, pre-harvest, harvest and post-harvest activities, document review, on-farm checklists, and a comparison of PSS and IFA Standards. PSS is the North American GAP certification or “Harmonized Standard”.

“GLOBALG.A.P. in Spanish” will soon be joined by a “HACCP for Processors” online training course, also in Spanish. “SCS’ Food Safety Training group continues to provide cost-effective professional training for food safety professionals, with a commitment to high-quality education,” said Dulmage.
